Supply Chain Management Workshop
(Creating Value in the Supply Chain)

Workshop Date: 2019-04-25

The Supply Chain has been in existence ever since man began to trade. What is different today is the adoption of technology in the supply chain. Whereas before, goods took months or even years to reach consumers, today technological advancements allow goods to be made available by the next day—or even within hours—after an order is placed.

Improvements in technology coupled with more demanding consumers are forcing organizations to radically change their supply chains. The bigger challenge for organizations is understanding what is important or what appeals to consumers more. Recent developments show that there is an on-going shift on consumer preferences: while consumers continue to value price, however consumers are willing to pay more if products they want are delivered sooner (time value). Price and Product Quality, while being valued by consumers, are considered common, and speed is beginning to be valued by consumers. Thus, competition has shifted to who can deliver faster to the consumer.

Workshop Objectives

This workshop is designed for organizations that envision to:

  1. add or create more value in the supply chain where they operate;
  2. have a deeper understanding of the supply chain, and
  3. understand the different value dimensions consumers appreciate.

A sample of cases on how value was created will be discussed, and participants will be directed to develop their individual action steps to serve as initial project for their respective organizations.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Define what is a supply chain
  2. Understand the unique role of Supply Chain Management vs. other functions
  3. Explain the different supply chain drivers
  4. Describe the different issues in Supply chain management
  5. Explain the different Supply Chain Management processes
